S.P. Jayaraj
Host and curator of this series, S.P. Jayaraj is the author of’The Secret of the Zipacna Dragons’ and creator of the new-age fantasy world of Adijari. Satish not only writes in multiple genres but discovered he had a talent for curating when he founded Cracked Walnut in 2014 in the Twin Cities,MN. He has hosted and performed at over 200 literary events. He is a proud resident of Cedar Rapids, IA and is excited to bring you his talent, and the talent of other great local artists.

Kelly Hansen Maher
Kelly Hansen Maher’s first collection of poems, Tremolo, was released in 2016 (Tinderbox Editions). Her work has previously been featured in Briar Cliff Review, New Orleans Review, and Blue Mesa Review, among other journals. Kelly teaches reading and poetry in prisons, and privately. Originally from Northeast Minneapolis, Kelly now lives in Grinnell, Iowa.

Eliza David
Chicago-born Eliza David is the author of eleven novels and lives in Iowa City. A member of the Romance Writers of America, Eliza serves on ICPL’s Board of Trustees and is a concierge with The Writers’ Rooms. Her latest, The Lamar St. Jon Experience, is being mentored by Pitch Wars.

Christopher D. Sims
Christopher D. Sims is a nationally known writer, spoken word performer, and human rights activist. Writing since the age of nine, he has written thousands of poems about justice, love, traveling, and coffee. He is the author of Universal Citizen and is a current fellow with the Intercultural Leadership Institute.

M.L. Williams
M.L. Williams is a retired journalist. He released a short story collection about his childhood — Cornfield Chronicles: Featuring Snowball, Pony From Hell — in December, 2017.
His science fiction novels include Seers of Verde: The Legend Fulfilled — Book One and Return of the Earthers: Seers of Verde, Book Two.

Alex Penland
Alex Penland was a museum kid: she has been bitten by a shark, she watched the final shuttle launch from the fire escape outside Launch Control, and she has been a certified diver since age twelve. Penn is one of two Directors of The Writers’ Rooms. Her work has received many accolades, including an Honorable Mention in the Writer’s Digest Annual Contest 2017.

Azure Anderson-Jayaraj
Azure Anderson-Jayaraj is a musician and artist based out of Cedar Rapids IA. She is a member of Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale and has performed at numerous Cracked Walnut events since it was founded in the Twin Cities, MN five years ago.
